A protest in Novi Sad sparked by a controversial General Urban Plan for Vojvodina’s capital, which should apply until 2030, has become a central political theme, as the protesters clashed with the police and private security during the event. The violence attracted a great deal of public attention, particularly by the Serbian opposition, as the protesters were beaten and taken in for questioning by persons in civilian clothes who were impossible to identify, which wasn’t the first time.
