Serbian Military Union chief Novica Antic has been in custody since last week, due to which he has started a hunger strike. He was arrested on suspicion of embezzling union funds, but the move is seen by a part of the public as a form of pressure on Antic and the union, which have been indicating abuses and irregularities in the Serbian Army for years. The “Antic case” became more entangled this week after the Brussels Politico website reported that he was operating in Serbia as a Russian agent.
