Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on March 7 that he would be visiting Berlin for the next seven or eight days and that he did not expect talks on Kosovo to be easy.
President Vucic said that Serbia's position was clear and firm, but that "it's not a matter of being steadfast," adding that, "What matters is that you have enough arguments to protect your position with ease. And when you hear their arguments, it is very difficult to understand their meaning, let alone anything more," Vucic said.
The president said he was ready to listen to what German Chancellor Angela Merkel had to say, but that "I see no initiative from Brussels at this time."
Vucic said that Serbia would wait until Kosovo decided to lift its tariffs on Serbian products, promising that Serbia would not say "thank you" when that happened.
"We will not say 'thank you' when they lift the tariffs, but we will tell them how damaging they were and illegal, and what they have done against our country and our people. We will keep on working and try and limit the damages in the future," Vucic said, adding that the U.S. was very rational and principled about Pristina removing the tariffs.
