2,500 Workers Engaged on Infrastructure Projects, Company Serbian Railways Infrastructure Reports First Corona Victim

At the moment, 2,500 workers were engaged on ten major infrastructure projects in Serbia, Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic said on April 7, adding that the her ministry had recommended that the work should continue during the epidemic at construction sites where possible with full adherence to the prescribed protection and security measures.

Mihajlovic said that an employee of company Serbian Railways Infrastructure had died in Nis from coronavirus-related complications.

She recalled that works were underway on the so-called Morava Corridor, the Belgrade bypass and the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway project. Mihajlovic stressed that “in this challenging and tough times we are all facing, transport has become the pillar of diplomacy.”

“Owing to transport which has been functioning, we have ensured regular supplies for citizens, repatriated Serbian nationals and deployed foreign nationals to their respective homelands which had earned us praising words from many countries in the world, including the U.S., Germany and France. Regardless of everything, life must not stop,” Mihajlovic told TV Prva.
