On April 13, representatives of Chinese company China Railway International delivered money, masks and thermal imaging cameras to Serbian Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic, to help fight the COVID-19 epidemic.
The company’s donation comprises not only 200,000 protective masks and six thermal imaging camera sets which will be installed inside the Serbian government building, Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Ministry and the Ministry of the Interior, but a EUR2.2 million donation as well.
The donation package was put together by China Railway’s employees working in Serbia, and it has been sent to Zvezdara Clinical Center, the ministry’s statement said.
According to Mihajlovic, the whole world is currently in a state of solidarity and friendship, such as can be seen between China and Serbia, which will help all overcome the crisis. The minister thanked the Chinese Embassy to Serbia, China Railway International, and all other Chinese companies that have been working on projects in Serbia, and that have been sending aid to Serbia ever since the epidemic began.
“We shall continue to support close communication with the Serbian government and Deputy Prime Minister [Zorana] Mihajlovic, under the guidance of the Chinese Embassy in Serbia, and gather and donate equipment, infrared thermometers, and supplies needed to help prevent, fight and control the epidemic in Serbia,” Hu Xiaoyong, the CEO of China Railway branch in Serbia, said.
