Epidemiologist Predrag Kon on April 14 said that the curve of coronavirus outbreak “has been fully flattening for two weeks now,” not counting new cases of coronavirus infection in the Nis Gerontology Center, which he described as “the situation which should not be repeated.”
Speaking to TV Pink, Kon said that based on tests of suspected cases, only 15 percent had tested positive, while around 85 percent had no relation with the virus.
He stressed that regardless of the statistics, mass testing should continue, noting that “this is the situation where we should not be hesitating whether to test for the virus or not, but it is important to have the carriers of coronavirus isolated and thereby reduce the risk of transmission.”
“We are looking at continued combat against the virus. We are in the sixth week and the flattening of the curve has been constant without slightest indication of a decreasing trend in the rates as it seemed after the fifth week. We have to accept it although people are losing patience,” Kon specified.
According to the latest update from April 13, Serbia has registered 4,054 coronavirus cases and 85 deaths.
