The first batch of 10 out of a total 100 containers for triage and emergency care for people potentially infected with Covid-19, which were purchased with the help of EU funds, were installed in seven health institutions in Belgrade, the Serbian government announced on April 14.

The procurement and assembly of these containers worth EUR590,000 is part of a EUR4.9m EU aid package, which was arranged by by EU Delegation in Serbia head Sem Fabrizi and Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic and UNOPS chief in Serbia Michela Telatin on April 3.

The donation is intended for the procurement of essential medical equipment - ventilators, laboratory equipment and tests, intensive care monitors, no touch thermometers and protective gear, which will arrive in Serbia in April and May.

"Our health system's readiness to deal with the challenge of the virus spreading above all hinges on how successful we have been in protecting hospitals, doctors and medical workers who are devoted to preserving our health. This is why their protection is key to succeeding in our battle against Covid-19," Minister Joksimovic said.

"I am proud of the urgent support that we are extending to Serbia owing to an aid package for reacting to crisis situations worth EUR15 million. This virus knows no borders. Only together can we defeat our joint enemy," EU Delegation in Serbia head Sem Fabrizi said.
