At an April 15 meeting with ambassadors of the EU countries in Serbia, Serbian European Integration Minister Jadranka Joksimovic stressed the necessity of a joint European response to the COVID-19 pandemic and for the member states to show solidarity with candidate countries.
The solidarity, she emphasized, includes the suspension of the decision to limit the export of medical equipment and providing access to future EU funds for the post-crisis economic recovery.
European solidarity and the mechanisms of joint European response, according to Joksimovic, are of great importance, “as Serbia has a contractual relationship with the EU, and this relationship provides the basis for Serbia to receive more aid and support, first of all economic, i.e. for the protection of investments.”
The ambassadors and Joksimovic agreed that, despite the extraordinary circumstances, the process of EU enlargement should continue, the Serbian government’s press release said.
