The temporary COVID-19 hospitals in Nis, in the Cair sports arena and the Centroturist hotel, will be closed for the time being, and their 30 patients transferred to the Students' Campus of the Faculty of Medicine, the Serbian minister for agriculture and head of the Crisis Management Task Force for the Nisava and Toplica district, Branislav Nedimovic, stated on April 23.

"The great hall, the minor hall and the hotel will be disinfected and everything will be ready if, God forbid, we need them again," Nedimovic said at a news conference of the Task Force, held at the Nis City Hall. He said that the closing of the temporary hospitals did not mean that the epidemic ended – only that "we can breathe a bit more easily."

"Seven days ago, we had only 70 free beds in the Clinical Center and a major danger that loomed. We now have 282 free beds," Nedimovic stated.

Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic said at the news conference that the epidemiological situation in southern Serbia  developed into a more favorable, but insecure situation, because local transmission is still present.

It was stated at the news conference that the Task Force for managing the crisis in the Nisava and Toplica district was suspending its activities for the time being.
