Head of Belgrade's Military Medical Academy (VMA) Colonel Miroslav Vukosavljevic said that until April 27 nine doctors and medical technicians working at the clinic had been infected with the coronavirus, and that two doctors and one technician had fully recovered meanwhile.

Having underlined that all of them had developed mild symptoms only, Vukosavljevic said that the VMA would soon get PCR tests, which would make the clinic fully equipped for diagnosing all conditions and a differential diagnosis between "coronavirus patients and non-coronavirus patients."

"We were among the first to prepare a triage section outside the VMA academy, which was unique insofar that it had surgical and diagnostics departments, while the triage center possessed rapid diagnostic tests," Vukosavljevic was quoted as saying by the Ministry of Defense.

The defense minister, Aleksandar Vulin, said that since the VMA had accepted to treat non-coronavirus patients, the triage involved more than 11,000 patients, and that 6,000 were admitted for medical treatment. "At this point more than 500 patients are treated at the clinic. More than 200 patients are dialyzed daily in three shifts, and more than 300 emergency operations have been performed," Vulin reported.
