Four people have died of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours in Serbia, so the death toll of the epidemic is now 197.

According to an announcement posted on the Serbian Ministry of Health website on May 4, 93 new cases were confirmed in the same 24-hour window, making the total case count since the beginning of the epidemic in Serbia 9,557.

While 2,023 Covid-19 patients are currently hospitalized, 1,574 people have recovered.

Once the state of emergency is lifted, the idea is for people over 65 to assess their risk individually, based on information about the epidemiological situation that will continue to be regularly updated, epidemiologist Predrag Kon said on May 4.

Kon also said recommendations for pensioners would still be to remain at home and only go out when risk is lowest.

He added that, though the state of emergency will be lifted, 14-day quarantine for persons entering Serbia will remain in force, but that all decisions going forward would be weighed against and adjusted to international agreements and measures.

"There will be talks about business people, who have to come for business reasons. Most likely, so they don't have to self-isolate, they will have to prove their health status with a negative corona test no more than 72 hours old," Kon said, adding that he did not expect travelers to fly and arrive in Serbia en masse until measures and the movement of people are agreed on at an international level.
