Following a discussion with President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, the ruling Serbian Progressive Party has abandoned the plan for its activists to blockade the Novi Sad Courthouse, Progressive leader Milos Vucevic said on May 26.
“The decision was made after I talked to Vucic, who explained that [such a move] would only hinder the court’s operation while it has made important cases to review for our citizens,” Vucevic told Newsmax Balkans TV.
The former PM expressed his “deep disappointment” in the Serbian judiciary but insisted he would not do anything to make the lives of the public more difficult.
Last week, Vucevic called on his party’s members, supporters and the general public to blockade the Novi Sad Courthouse after the city’s Appellate Court released on house arrest three opposition activists suspected of attempting to violently change the country’s constitutional order.
