Epidemiologist Says New Hospital in Nis Will Open Doors on May 18

Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic announced on May 14 that a new part of the Clinical Center in Nis would open on May 18, as there were no more cases of coronavirus.

"I think we will be able to ensure that the new Clinical Center starts on May 18 so that we can begin taking care of chronically and seriously ill patients who require surgery and need very important analyses to be done along with therapy," Tiodorovic told Serbian state TV.

Tiodorovic said that by the end of the week or mid-next week, experts would be able to gauge whether there Covid-19 infections had increased after citizens noticeably relaxed after the government lifted restrictions.

He said that an expert team from the Crisis Headquarters had recommended that campaign rallies and gatherings be adjusted to all of the measures that the team had recommended.

The epidemiologist recalled that experts had proposed opening the border with Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia on June 1 while the situation would be additionally assessed after June 15 when the European Union envisages that its border could be fully reopened.
