Over the past 24 hours in Serbia two more persons died of the coronavirus bringing the toll to 237.

According to the Batut Institute of Public Health's information which was posted by the Ministry of Health's website on May 21, 6,918 people have been tested for the virus of whom 86 are positive.

A total of 743 infected have been hospitalized while 12 are on ventilators. The number of cured persons since the outbreak of Covid-19 has reached 5,370.

Batut Institute of Public Health deputy director Darija Kisic Tepavcevic said on May 21 that the authorities were still searching for "potential reservoirs" of the virus but that at this time everything was going well in terms of the epidemic's gradual eradication.

"The general conclusion is that the situation in Serbia is stable and the spread of the disease is slowing down in all regions of the country," Kisic Tepavcevic told the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation.

She said that most new infections stemmed from contacts with infected employees of a factory in Vranje but that all of them were displaying mild symptoms or none at all.
