Predrag Kon
Epidemiologist Predrag Kon on July 14 said that errors had occurred in data and statistics on the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia.
Noting that it was a major problem, not only in organizational terms, Kon said that the database would be reviewed, which, according to him, would enable “a much better” monitoring system in the future.
“It is not true that we do not have enough tests, but we often face congestion. The data published daily are the data that come in on that particular day. It is important that on July 13, the prime minister presented to the public the facts about that application and I think that the database will be updated and advanced,” Kon told TV Pink.
Commenting on the current epidemiological situation in Serbia, Kon said that Belgrade was at the highest risk, explaining that hospital bed availability in the capital “is something making all of us very stressed.”
“Due to the frequency of contacts, Belgrade is an explosive place for this virus, but we see citizens behaving adequately on public transport and indoors. We still have to deal with gatherings, particularly of young people, which is hardly possible to prevent,” Kon said, adding that wearing face coverings indoors was actually becoming a strategy for combating coronavirus spread.
