Batut Institute deputy director Darija Kisic Tepavcevic said on Aug. 11 that any vaccine that Serbian expert teams deemed safe would pass through all necessary procedures before the domestic Agency for Medicine and Medical Means.
Kisic Tepavcevic told a news conference held by the government Crisis Headquarters that Serbian experts were in touch with the majority of producers of vaccines that are in the final stages and that there were memorandums of understanding with some of these.
Speaking on the criteria for defining the safety of a vaccine, Kisic Tepavcevic said that the production of vaccines had clearly defined phases and procedures, which she said, were strictly defined. "The priority is safety and effectiveness as much as possible," she said.
She also said that first to fourth grade students would return to schools on Sept. 1 in groups of 15 at the most. She added that a combined method would be used for students of higher grades who, she said, would spend some time online and in school.
