One person died from consequences of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 725.
According to a Sept. 7 statement on the Ministry of Health's website, in the past 24 hours 36 people tested positive out of the total 6,198 tested. The number of people being treated for COVID-19 in hospitals is 487, of whom 33 are on ventilators. Since the start of the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia 984,798 people have been tested, with 31,941 testing positive.
Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic said on Sept. 7 that the return of 25,000 Serbian tourists from vacations abroad may result in an increase in the number of infected over the course of September. He added that the number of coronavirus cases was directly linked to disregard for the measures.
"Anyone coming to Serbia should be aware that they carry that risk with them, and so it would be good for them to be in a sort of home isolation. Be it a return from a summer vacation or arrival from one place to another, we should all have the habit of taking care of both ourselves and others," said Tiodorovic, who is a member of the Crisis Headquarters for combating coronavirus.
