Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in the evening of Sept. 15, on the occasion of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, that the Serbian people have to use political means to fight for freedom.

“There are no higher or more important values than the unity of our people and the freedom our ancestors have always fought for, for which we will always wish and have to fight in the future,” Vucic said in his speech at a ceremonial gathering held under the title “In Praise of the Serbian People” in Banjaluka.

In his video address, Vucic pointed out the historical importance of September 15, the day of the breakthrough of the Thessaloniki (Macedonian) front in the First World War, saying that the Serbian unity is of great importance today, when the Serbs face numerous challenges and great pressure from the world.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Member Milorad Dodik said that with this state holiday, observed this year for the first time, “the entirely new approach” to the Serbian national unity begins.

The ceremonial gathering organized at the Square of the Serbian Rulers in Banjaluka, the capital of the Serb entity in Bosnia, was attended by Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin, as Vucic’s envoy, and members of the Serbian Defense Ministry’s and the Army of Serbia’s delegations.
