Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, who will be the new speaker of the Serbian National Assembly, said on Oct. 22 that only someone clueless about politics, or malicious, could claim that he has been degraded by this appointment, which according to the Constitution, is the highest office he had ever held.
“Only an irresponsible politician would say they don’t want this position,” Dacic told the Pink TV in an interview he apparently had to cut short, being “in a hurry” to submit his resignation – something he never does with an easy heart, he added.
Calling himself a “state-building politician,” he said he does not care for staying in the executive branch of the government for the sake of power.
According to him, the U.N. Security Council session on Kosovo, held in the evening on Oct. 22, was “rather painful” but important, because Serbia had managed to have the matter of Kosovo still be a topic at these sessions.
Commenting on his time as the minister of foreign affairs, Dacic said that “history will remember that 19 countries have withdrawn their recognition of Kosovo [during his mandate].”
