Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said on Dec. 7 that the effects of the implementation of anti-epidemic measures were already becoming evident in Belgrade and that the number of newly infected citizens was starting to decrease slightly.
Kon told Prva TV that the problem was that the number of those requiring hospitalization for COVID-19 was still big, which was why many citizens of Belgrade were still being treated in other cities, regardless of a new hospital in Batajnica, and that the health care system had reached its limit.
Hospitals will continue to be filled, even though there has been a high level of stabilization in Belgrade and the numbers are expected to go down, said Kon.
When asked about potential proposals for new anti-epidemic measures ahead of the upcoming holidays, when many people are also expected to come to Serbia from other countries, Kon replied that the medical part of the Crisis Headquarters had proposed that coronavirus tests be conducted at the border.
