Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic on Feb. 2 said that in resolving the Kosovo issue things should be placed realistically and try to find a serious solution and demonstrate a serious approach and initiative and wish to resume the dialogue.
“That way we get a chance, even if a solution is not found, for Serbia not take all the blame as it was the case in previous years,” Selakovic told state public broadcaster RTS.
He also said that also very important for resolving this issue was the meeting of Serbian and French presidents, Aleksandar Vucic and Emmanuel Macron, noting that Macron “has been growing into Europe’s leader.”
Selakovic added that Macron had also said that today there was more concern and understanding in the international community for Serbia’s position, but noted that there would be no U-turn in policies of major powers.
Speaking about Serbia’s EU path, Selakovic said that Belgrade was the first to endorse the revised enlargement methodology, initiated by France, noting that it was natural to discuss it with Macron. “As you heard, we have France’s backing,” Selakovic said.
