Montenegrin Health Minister Jelena Borovinic Bojovic and Ministry State Secretary Borko Bajic welcomed at the Podgorica Airport on March 9 a second batch of 2,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine, which Serbia has donated to Montenegro.

The first batch of Serbia's donation, consisting of 2,000 doses of Sputnik V jab, arrived in Montenegro on Feb. 17. These vaccines have been administered to the elderly in nursing homes and health workers. In the meantime, Montenegro has received two batches of 5,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine from Russia and another 30,000 doses of Chinese Sinopharm shot.

A total of 2,406 people, or 0.4 of Montenegro’s population, have been vaccinated so far, according to website covidodgovor.me.

It has been estimated that Montenegro requires at least 248,000 doses of vaccines, the number requested through the Covax Facility, to ensure inoculation of 20 percent of Montenegro’s citizens.
