Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said on April 7 that “the effectiveness of [anti-Covid-19] measures” reflected in the lower number of infected and the slowdown of the epidemic is clearly visible two weeks after the closure of shopping malls and restaurants and cafes, but that “we still have an emergency situation.”
Speaking for Pink TV, Kon also said that the medical part of the Crisis Headquarters is “holding up” the easing of restrictions at this moment, as it would be “tragic to make a mistake because of impatience.” He added that the measures cannot be softened while the hospitals are full.
“The vaccine is working extremely well in Belgrade,” Kon pointed out and added that the slowing down of the epidemic and the drop in the number of infected is particularly visible in the capital city, where over 34 percent of the adult population has been immunized.
Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic has said that he hopes the city’s shopping malls will open by the end of the week. He added that thanks to the Belgrade authorities over 10,000 people have been transported from their places of residence to vaccination points.
