Serbian parliament speaker Ivica Dacic has met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow to discuss the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, the situation in the region and global politics.

Dacic and Lavrov expressed the readiness to continue contributing to further development of strategic relations bilaterally and multilaterally, according to a release from the Serbian parliament on June 1.

Lavrov underlined that Russia would continue to support Serbia in preserving territorial integrity and sovereignty, adding that Moscow would endorse a solution to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija which would be acceptable for Belgrade.

Dacic said that parliamentary diplomacy was a strong mechanism for cooperation and promotion of relations. He added that following successful talks with State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin and Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko he was ready to invest utmost effort into further strengthening of cooperation, particularly within the commission for collaboration between the two parliaments.

On May 31, Dacic, who is staying in Russia until June 4, said that Belgrade would never back sanctions against Moscow.
