Political scientist Cvijetin Milivojevic said that an opinion poll conducted by agency Ipsos, showing that the Serbian Progressive Party would win 59.8 of the votes if elections were held today, was correct, but added that the survey had most probably covered a target group close to the Progressives.

“I am very interested to learn whether the agencies which conduct opinion polls ordered by the Progressives also survey other potential target groups, that is, more than 50 of respondents who did not vote in the last polls,” Milivojevic told the June 29 issue of Belgrade daily Danas.

He wondered why “a credible agency like Ipsos has been for years now allowing its clients to present through media outlets only portions of their surveys, which had been used not to inform the public, but to create a public opinion, that is, to create a pro-Progressives opinion in the public,” adding that this practice “has been undermining the agency’s reputation.”

“Based on the content its client, the Progressives, has been furnishing to media outlets, the agency appears to be party-run, which is not good for Ipsos. This agency, at least in the past, even enjoyed trust in the public,” Milivojevic noted.

According to Ipsos opinion poll, if elections were held today, the Progressives would collect 59.8 percent of the votes, the Social Party of Serbia, 8.5, the Party of Freedom and Justice, 4.2, while the Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia would win 3.2 percent of the ballots.
