Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on July 30 that he expected Germany to offer constructive support to talks between Belgrade and Pristina and their search for a compromise that would meet the needs of both sides, paving the way to durable regional stability based on the implementation of existing agreements.

At a meeting with State Secretary of Germany's Federal Foreign Office Miguel Berger, the Serbian president underlined that full membership in the European Union (EU) remained Serbia's absolute foreign policy priority, and that German support in the process was of vital importance, the Office of the Serbian President said in a press release.

Vucic and Berger discussed bilateral ties and economic cooperation, and Vucic said that the former had reached an exceptionally high level, adding that economic relations had been expanding constantly, thanks to a good business setting in Serbia, and Germany's support to domestic companies for investing in Serbia.

"Germany is one of Serbia's most important economic partners, and one of the largest investors in the Serbian economy. Serbia is interested in further developing economic ties, based on the steady growth of trade," Vucic said.
