The president of the Serbian Association of Infectologists, Dr Tomislav Preveden, said that booster vaccines were necessary, and that national professional bodies should suggest who would be among the first to receive a third booster dose, which vaccine should be used and at what point the third shot should be administered.
“With this in mind, it is very important that Serbian citizens trust the institutions making the programme for a third doze,” the infectious disease specialist of Vojvodina’s Medical Center explained in an interview with the Danas daily, published on Aug. 4.
Dr Preveden went on to say that doctors were not seeing a considerable difference between different variants of the virus in terms of symptoms, particularly among hospitalized patients.
“What they have noticed though is the impact of immunization, as most of the patients are working-age people, while the elderly made up a big portion of coronavirus hospitalizations before,” the infectologist said.
