The state secretary at the Ministry of Health, Mirsad Djerlek, has said that citizens can receive any of the vaccines registered in Serbia as a booster shot and that they cannot go wrong.
"There are elderly patients who had received the Sinopharm vaccine and did not get some expected result. They should consult their doctor whether it is better to get the same one, or for it to be Pfizer now," Djerlek told the Aug. 20 issue of daily Blic.
Djerlek also said that Pfizer, which worked faster and provided a higher level of antibodies, was recommended to persons who had seen a weaker effect of the Sinopharm vaccine. In his words, people with additional diseases, i.e. the group that has been recognized as the priority for vaccination, are showing the most interest in the booster shot.
"The global research we have been following has shown that mixing (vaccines) cannot worsen [a person's] health condition and we leave everyone the right to choose, but with consultation, which we have reiterated several times," he stressed.
