Slovenian Ambassador to Serbia Damjan Bergant in Pirot on Sept. 7 said he much respected Serbia and backed all its steps towards a membership in the EU, adding it was important that Slovenia was currently presiding over the Council of the EU.
After a reception at the Pirot City Hall and a meeting with Mayor Vladan Vasic, Bergant said that cooperation started at the local level and could produce good results also at the state level.
“Our job is not to be in Belgrade only and to work on the relations between the two countries and regional ties, but to tour other parts of Serbia,” Bergant said, adding that he was very surprised to see Pirot so well maintained and taking care of the environment and sorting waste.
The Slovenian ambassador, together with associates from Slovenia, visited the Pirot Chamber of Commerce, Free Zone Pirot and the local Start-Up Center.
