The international “Connecting Europe Express” has arrived at the Belgrade Central railway station, Serbian Railway Infrastructure has announced.

The train was launched by the EU on occasion of 2021 – the European Year of the Rail, and is set to visit 26 countries on the old continent in just over a month.

The “Connecting Europe Express” arrived from Croatia via Sid in the evening of Sept. 12, bringing European Commission envoys and members of the press.

The train includes a car housing an exhibition on the most important projects and comparative advantages of Europe’s railway system, which was jointly toured by the representatives of the EC and of Serbian Railway Infrastructure.

The train’s arrival coincides with the “Western Balkans Rail Summit 2021”, which takes place today in Belgrade.

The international express will continue its journey later in the day, travelling towards North Macedonia and Greece via Presevo and Tabanovce. The train’s departing point was Lisbon, which it left on Sept. 2 and it will arrive at its last stop – Paris – on Oct. 7.
