Rada Trajkovic, leader of the European Movement of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, said in a comment on Pristina's decision to confiscate KS license plates that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti was not prepared to accept "anything but substantial reciprocity," and that in terms of the RSK car plates Kosovo would accept only what Serbia would.

Trajkovic said in an interview with the Danas newspaper published on Sept. 22 that an agreement signed in Brussels, in 2016, by the then director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djuric, served as a "cover" for Kurti to intervene after it had expired - a new one was not reached, and Pristina used reciprocity.

The Kosovo Serb politician explained that it was not the kind of reciprocity that existed between Greece and North Macedonia, because Greece had accepted Macedonia as a state, refusing to accept only its name, whereas Belgrade was not ready to accept Kosovo as an independent subject, disregarding RKS license plates as well.

The agreement to recognize KS and Serbian license plates in Kosovo was signed during the Brussels talks in 2016. The agreement was valid for five years, until Sept. 15, and no new agreement has been signed after it expired.
