The rebellion of students and other citizens across Serbia that has been going on for months has begun losing its intensity, while Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic seems confident and more stable than he has been at any point since the collapse of the Novi Sad railway station concrete canopy on Nov. 1, 2024. There is no consensus among the students blockading their faculties on the concept of a provisional government (of experts), which the opposition-leaning public sees as the only way out of the deep socio-political crisis in the country. Meanwhile, Vucic – who is vehemently dismissing the possibility of an interim government – has initiated the process of forming a new government in full capacity and indicated a tougher attitude toward his opponents.
