Fifty-Four People Die of Coronavirus in Serbia, 2,272 Newly Infected

Over the past 24 hours in Serbia another 54 people died of the consequences of Covid-19 while 2,272 news cases were registered, an official statement said on Nov. 30.

The covid19.rs website said that 16,858 people were tested over the past 24 hours while 3,996 people had been hospitalized of whom 199 were on ventilators. Since the outbreak of the epidemic in Serbia 11,691 people have died of the disease while 6,814,207 samples were tested and 1,254,845 people tested positive for virus.

Serbian Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar urged for the authorities to not prematurely reveal information on the newest omicron strain. "This has been going on for 20 months, what the coronavirus has shown us is that we have not fully beaten known strains, so lets not rush to release information on the latest strains that have just appeared," Loncar said.
