Duska Ignjatovic, the head anesthesiologist at the Dragisa Misovic Clinical Hospital Center, said on Oct. 20 that Serbia must follow the example of countries such as Italy, which introduced strict epidemic measures and have the results to show for it.
“We must put a stop to the further transmission of the virus. We have three million citizens that are either sick or unvaccinated,” Ignjatovic told the RTS public service.
According to her, Serbia’s Covid-19 Crisis Response Team should take bolder action and introduce harsher measures. The Dragisa Misovic Centre is currently treating 300 Covid patients, Ignjatovic said. Seventy of them are in intensive care and 90 percent are unvaccinated.
She added that many factors determine the severity of a person’s symptoms, but that her hospital’s current patients included both youths and children requiring oxygen therapy.
