The Freedom and Justice Party criticized the Government of Serbia on Jan. 26 for allowing a Serbian ambassador, Vladimir Bozovic, whom Montenegro had declared persona non grata, to perform his diplomatic duties from Belgrade, paying him in hard currency at that.
As the argument goes, Bozovic “was expelled from Montenegro late in November 2020,” and was declared persona non grata by the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs, based on the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, governing diplomatic intercourse, privileges and immunities.
“Yet the Government of Serbia has chosen to act contrary to common diplomatic rules, allowing Bozovic to perform ambassadorial duties at home, in Belgrade, disregarding the rules governing diplomatic relations between states and demonstrating sheer disrespect for a sovereign decision made by the Montenegrin government,” the party said in a press release.
“Bozovic has been rewarded by the Government of Serbia for sitting idle in Belgrade for 14 months, receiving an unlawful salary of EUR4,500 a month, amounting to a budget expenditure of EUR56,000,” the Freedom and Justice Party has warned.
