In a special session on Feb. 9, Serbia's Parliament will be voting to confirm the Constitutional amendment act and the Law on implementing the Constitutional amendment act -- both pertaining to those changes to the Serbian Constitution which were the subject of a recent referendum.

Acting on the request of 237 MPs, Parliament Speaker Ivica Dacic also called the extraordinary session to discuss multiple judicial and prosecutorial decisions, the country's railway system and the State Electoral Commission.

Particularly, the agenda for the extraordinary session includes a proposal to dismiss public prosecutors submitted by the Committee for the judiciary, state administration and local government, proposals for the naming of first-time judges submitted by the High Court Council, and a proposal for the election of the deputy public prosecutor submitted by the State Prosecutors' Council.

In the Jan. 16 referendum on amending segments of the Serbian Constitution pertaining to the judiciary, just under 60 percent of votes were in favor of the changes, with a turnout of around 30 percent.
