Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated in Kragujevac on July 1 that she found the resolution of the European Parliament, calling on Serbia and Kosovo to reach the agreement on the normalization of relations "based on mutual recognition," unclear, and that this was not mentioned in the document of the European Commission.
She told reporters that, as someone who is conducting the negotiation process according to the new methodology, by clusters, she found that "nothing is clear anymore" because, in her words, "the European Commission says one thing, and the European Parliament another."
"In its official document, the negotiation position for Chapter 35 which, in our case, pertains to Kosovo and Metohija and the normalization of relations with Pristina, the European Commission does not in one instance mention the word recognition, but useas instead the term comprehensive normalization of relations with Pristina," Brnabic said, adding that the European Parliament now "voted on something different."
On July 6, members of the European Parliament in Strasbourg adopted a resolution stating that Serbia's progress towards the EU would depend directly on strengthening the rule of law, normalization of relations with Kosovo and harmonizing with European foreign and security policy, which includes imposing sanctions on Russia.
