During an Oct. 3 visit to Budapest Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic appealed to the European Union (EU) to “do everything it can to strengthen the euro,” to prevent everyone outside the Eurozone from growing poverty.
“I’m asking EU representatives to do everything they can to strengthen the Euro, because that’s the next mine for all of us. With the growth of the dollar, oil prices will go up, too. The dollar is so strong that the Americans will be able to buy everything they need in Europe for far less than before,” Vucic said to reporters.
The Serbian president underlined that if the euro continues to drop against the dollar, EU members will face problems as well, because the value of the euro will not be the same across the Union due to inflation, and it would create “additional economic problems, particularly for us on the edge of the Union.”
“The problem is that we’ll all get poorer – we outside the Eurozone or the European Union, because we have reduced the level of indebtedness 26.5 percent to 10 percent in dollars. We need to pay for dollars in euros, and it’s a serious problem for us,” he said.
