European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Oct. 27 that Kosovo's place was in the EU and that without it the EU was not complete.
She told a news conference held together with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani that Kosovo would be supported on its road to European integrations and that Pristina had made strides and was devoted to its European path.
"Kosovo's place is in the EU, I am convinced in that, and you prove this every day. Europe is not complete without Kosovo. The EU is devoted to the enlargement process and we will help you as much as we can to join the EU," she said.
Osmani said that Von der Leyen had once again confirmed the EC's devotion to Kosovo and the region. She said that it was key for the EU to stand by Kosovo in the crisis that everyone was facing.
"The time has come for the EU to take more concrete action in the direction of the integration of the democratic countries of the Western Balkans. This of course is for countries that want to take serious steps toward integration with the EU. We must seek the support of all EU structures," Osmani said, adding that she was concerned about Russia's destabilizing actions and those "of its satellites in the region."
