Nikos Dendias
Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said in Belgrade on Dec. 19 that Athens supported the Belgrade-Pristina dialog with a view to reaching a comprehensive and legally binding solution, stressing that all earlier agreements must be applied in full.
After talks with Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, Dendias said Greece continued to support Serbia's bid to join the European Union and considered Serbia an integral part of the EU.
Dacic told a joint news conference that it was Serbia's interest to preserve peace and have a dialog on disputed issues, stressing that Serbia wanted to be a factor for peace and stability in the region.
Serbia will continue to work with countries that do not recognize Kosovo as independent to continue that policy, while it will work with countries that do recognize the territory as independent to change that position and withdraw the recognition, Dacic said, adding that 27 countries had withdrawn their recognition of Kosovo, 18 of which are known, while announcing the remaining nine is yet to be decided.
The Serbian foreign minister said that, according to his knowledge, the Czech presidency of the EU would not enter Pristina's request for EU membership into procedure, but only inform member countries that the request had been received.
On the topic of Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, Dacic said the matter was deferred until next year and that Serbia still had a tough fight ahead.
