U.S. Ambassador Christopher Hill and Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic signed a memorandum of understanding between the Department of State and the Serbian Foreign Ministry in Belgrade on Jan. 5.

Hill stated after the signing that he was pleased that the U.S. and Serbia "are on the same side in most issues the two countries are facing and have a common view of various problems."

Dacic stated that the memorandum was one more opportunity for cooperation and understanding of the way the Department of State works, and that it would help in developing visits and high-level contacts. "We hope for a visit by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, which would confirm Washington's determination to develop relations with Serbia," he stated.

Dacic explained that the memorandum established a system for cooperation in employee exchange and opened the possibility for Serbian citizens to develop their diplomatic knowledge in the United States.
