The prime ministers of Montenegro and Albania, Dritan Abazovic and Edi Rama, agreed in Podgorica on Feb. 27 that the French-German plan for Kosovo was a good framework for resolving problems between Pristina and Belgrade.
The Albanian PM told reporters in Podgorica after a ceremonial session of the two cabinets that an agreement based on the French-German plan was "the best thing" on the table when it comes to resolving the situation between Belgrade and Pristina.
Abazovic, Montenegro's outgoing PM, said maintaining the status quo would be detrimental to the entire region and called the French-German plan a good one.
The two PMs announced that Montenegro may organize an informal summit within the Open Balkan initiative in June.
"We're planning to organize an informal meeting in June. Not your usual Open Balkan meeting, but in the context of regional cooperation," Abazovic said, adding that Open Balkan had "revived" the Berlin Process.
Rama said Open Balkan was an initiative "necessary and complementary" to the Berlin Process, and that there were no "hidden strings" to be found tying back to China, Russia or Germany.
