Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said during an April 3 visit to Verona that he had had an important meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, with whom he had discussed bilateral ties and global current affairs, adding that he expected her to visit Serbia by the end of the year.
Speaking to Serbian journalists during the world’s largest wine fair Vinitaly, the president said Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and he had discussed with the Italian PM relations with the EU and what Belgrade and Tirana hoped for, and what kind of support they expected.
“We have offered a few ideas to the EU, underlining what kind of support members of the Union received during the crisis, and what kind of support was given to us. We asked Melone to help us bilaterally in Brussels with her engagement on different themes,” Vucic said.
Responding to a journalist’s question, Vucic said that the fact that Serbia “has failed to introduce sanctions against Russia” while the others in Europe did, “hardly corresponds with the EU integration processes,” adding that it was yet another issue discussed with the Italian prime minister.
