Serbian President and Serbian Progressive Party leader Aleksandar Vucic thinks that the forming of a People's Movement for the State, as "a new political organization with fresh makeup on," will manage to wash away all the wrongdoing, crime and corruption that have been destroying Serbia for years, a former minister and leader of the New Serbia Party, Velimir Ilic, said on April 28.
"The people are not stupid, just scared. And the Serbian Progressive Party, before putting on a new suit, must answer many questions. One of them is, who created (the criminal gang of) Veljko Belivuk, whose product is he, who did he work for and what did he do. The Jovanjica affair must be investigated to the end, [as well as] who ruined (power company) EPS and what the role of Vucic's close friend was. It should be clarified who has done what in this Serbia and in whose interest," Ilic told daily Danas.
He went on to say that there was no person in the Progressive party to have occupied an official position without leaving behind crime and devastated institutions.
Commenting on the ministers in the incumbent government, Ilic said they had no profession, rather just purchased diplomas.
"For example, Rade Basta, he was part of my party security. A good judoist, he wanted to be a good policeman, and he became the minister of economy. God forbid, I really can't understand that," said Ilic.
