Serbia, the European Union (EU) and North Macedonia signed a cross-border cooperation agreement in Nis, on June 26. The trilateral financial agreement supporting a cross-border cooperation programme was signed by the Serbian  minister in charge of the country’s EU accession, Tanja Miscevic, the EU ambassador to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret and North Macedonia’s deputy prime minister, Bojan Maricic.

The Union supports cross-border projects in the countries outside the EU as well, advancing all segments of society. June 26 was the last day of the EU Opportunity Week, focused on local development and the environment.

Giaufret said after the signing ceremony that the EU cooperated very well with the Nis city authorities, running several large-scale projects. “We are closing the EU Opportunity Week with a strong message – the opportunities are not for Serbia alone, they go beyond the borders and the signing of this agreement is an example,” the EU ambassador said.
