On July 3, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated that opposition MPs “are politically abusing sessions of the National Assembly,” adding that they keep repeating the same points over and over. “The public should know that this is a waste of time for the entire country. Right now, extremely important bills are waiting to be passed in the Assembly, while [the opposition] is using the sessions for political self-promotion and raising only issues that are not on the agenda,” Brnabic told Happy TV and explained she has been attending sessions of Parliament out of respect for the pending discussion on national security.

According to the prime minister, “the executive authorities have nothing to do with awarding [national broadcasting] frequencies – neither do they award them, nor can they shut down a newspaper or television station.”

Brnabic claimed that opposition MPs have turned parliamentary sessions into “theatre productions” while “committing violence against the public by blocking roads” and reiterated that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic “invited them to talk forty days ago.”

“He issued a public invitation to them to come and talk and resolve everything. To discuss whether or not they want elections, what will happen to the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media – in a respectable political setting – but they said they don’t want to talk. Well, how do they think problems are solved in a democracy?” Brnabic wanted to know.
