Democratic Party Official: Let the Only Division Be for or Against the Regime

From the moment the civil protests against violence started, the only division among participants in political life that makes sense has been whether someone is for or against the criminal regime, Dusan Kostadinovic, a senior official of the Democratic Party, said on July 28.

"Aleksandar Vucic can be defeated. The political entity that will do that will be the one that puts irrelevant divisions to the side and insists on just one important division - for or against the criminal regime," Kostadinovic told BETA.

When asked whether there could be a change of government without cooperation between the pro-European and so-called state-building opposition, Kostadinovic replied that only when Serbia became a state in which laws were abided by would it make any sense for differences in ideology and programs among the political actors to be decisive.

"It was clearly seen that when citizens rise up, determined to change things, the regime's two main instruments of staying in power - propaganda and repression - do not produce results. Citizens have snapped out of anesthesia, there is no dilemma that a significant majority of citizens is against this regime, it no longer has even that false legitimacy achieved through brutal propaganda. The protests have delegitimized it, its fall is inevitable," stressed Kostadinovic.
