On Sept. 12, the Democratic Party issued a statement claiming that the regime is worried by the announced Sept. 16 teachers’ strike and has, therefore, commenced “discretely scaring” public school educators.

“A complete halt of operation, especially at elementary schools, will also channel the anger of already dissatisfied parents toward the government. That is why the authorities are already resorting to pressure, an example of which is Kragujevac,” the party’s press release reads.

According to the statement, education auditors have already issued written notifications to all primary and secondary schools in Kragujevac, announcing snap audits starting Sept. 16 – the very day the teachers’ strike is scheduled to happen.

“Knowing this regime, we expect such pressures to mount by [Sept. 16], and to include even threats of employment termination, all so as to undermine the strike,” the Democrats concluded.
