Members and local chapters of the People’s Party who support party vice-president and caucus head Miroslav Aleksic will meet on Aug. 6 to discuss the future course of their organization.

Aleksic has told N1 that the assembly will be held at Topola’s Oplenac hill – an important historical site tied to the Second Serbian Uprising against the Ottomans – and has invited the media to attend.

Citing unnamed sources, N1 reports that, should party president Vuk Jeremic fail to retract his allegedly unlawful decisions by Aug. 4 – including Aleksic’s removal from the position of executive committee chief – the organization may revert its name to the People’s Movement of Serbia, as it was called until 2017.
