President of the European Movement of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija Rada Trajkovic said on Sept. 25. that 30 people burst into the Banjska Monastery in an attempt to implicate the Serbian Orthodox Church in their conflict with Kosovo police. The Church “had no part” in what happened, Trajkovic explained, adding that the international community interceded to remove the trespassers and transport them to central Serbia so no more lives would be lost.
Speaking for Nova S TV, Trajkovic insisted that “the fact that 30 people were at the monastery is something everyone knows and is talking about” and that she does not understand why the media have not reported it.
“Everything is locked down tight and caters to the politics of the regimes in Belgrade and Pristina, while the actual truth rests with the international community, which is keeping silent and working on an immediate solution to prevent the number of victims from soaring,” the politician said.
Trajkovic went on to say that the fallen policeman was an officer of the law and that his death is condemnable. While reports say that, on the other side, three people assumed to be Serbs were killed, there are claims the death toll is higher, she added.
The international community “played a historic role” in the aftermath of the armed clash in Banjska and can also be thanked for EULEX’s presence on the grounds, Trajkovic told the television.
“Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has laid all responsibility at the feet of Kosovo Serbs. The [Kosovo] Serbs object to the ethnically-motivated actions of Kosovo police, but it was Vucic who encouraged those who broke into [the monastery] by claiming that the [Serbian] Army had headed in the direction Kosovo,” Trajkovic maintained and concluded that Kosovo’s north will soon be empty if peace is not reached.
